Sebastian Stan talks Stucky, fashion, and staying fit in GQ interview

Sebastian Stan is quickly becoming everyone’s favourite celeb and it’s not hard to see why. With a healthy dose of self-mockery, impeccable acting skills and, let’s be honest, an incredibly good-looking body and face, the 33-year-old actor is winning over the hearts of millions, us included.

The star recently sat down with GQ for a candid interview and an accompanying photoshoot. When asked about his interest in fashion, Sebastian opened up about his creative process and how fashion ties into that and admitted that he even makes collages when getting into a part. Stan also had some kind words to say about Fashion Week.

I’ve gotten an education on Fashion Week, and I can appreciate it a lot more now, when you see a designer really putting a show together. It is artistry, and these guys have a creative voice. Every detail counts; it’s amazing.

No interview with a Marvel actor is complete without at least one question about fitness and when asked about his regime, Sebastian admitted he might have gone a bit too far in getting fit for Captain America: Civil War.

I think I went a little overboard. I got up to 200 pounds, which I have never done in my entire life. I knew I was going to be surrounded by these fucking mammoth guys, left and right. It was for my own confidence.

Well, we’re certainly not gonna complain about that.

Max Berlinger also asked him about shipping – sometimes a controversial topic, but of course Sebastian Stan handled the question like a champ. When asked about the “obsession” people have with the idea of Bucky Barnes and Captain America being in love, Sebastian said the following:

Look, man, I think it’s great. Movies are for people to relate to in whatever way they want. No one here is ever going to point a finger and say what’s right and wrong. For me, it’s like, Awww. It’s cute, it’s great. If someone takes the time to think about that, that’s great. I don’t think of the character that way, though. But there’s no right or wrong answer.

It’s refreshing to see how much Stan embraces fan-culture, including fanart (“really humbling”) and shipping, in a day and age where actors are too often threatened by the mere idea of their character being gay and it’s one of the many reasons why the star has been steadily gaining popularity ever since he played Carter Baizen in Gossip Girl, now nearly ten years ago.
