Shakur Stevenson vs Edwin de los Santos LIVE: UK start time, undercard and how to follow as Fearl

Publish date: 2024-06-15

Shakur Stevenson has the chance to become a three-weight world champion when he takes on Edwin de los Santos in Las Vegas this week.

The undefeated American has previously held the featherweight and super-featherweight belts, and will now be aiming to claim the vacant WBC lightweight crown.

The lightweight title was formerly held by undisputed champion Devin Haney but he has decided to move up to welterweight, being named a champion in recess for doing so.

Stevenson was expected to take on lead contender Frank Martin for the title but he didn’t accept the fight, meaning De Los Santos was the next available opponent.

The Dominican has only tasted defeat once in his professional career, losing to William Foster by split decision in January 2022.

Emanuel Navarrete will take on Robson Conceicao elsewhere on the stacked card which takes place only one day before Formula 1’s debut on the Las Vegas strip.

Stevenson vs De Los Santos: What has been said?

Stevenson has praised his opponent for taking the opportunity to fight him for the lightweight title.

"Edwin De Los Santos is a good fighter and he's going to come to fight,” he said. “I give him credit for actually taking this fight when so many other so-called fighters ran from it.

"I'm the biggest boogeyman in boxing, and on November 16, the world will see why when I put on another great performance for the fans."

Top Rank chairman Bob Arum is ready for the ‘spectacular card’ and is excited for this event to kick off a special weekend of sport in Las Vegas.

Arum said: "This is a huge week for Las Vegas and a tremendous platform for Shakur Stevenson to show, once again, why he is well on his way to reigning as the sport's pound-for-pound king.
