Subway releases new Choc Mint Cookie flavour, the first in four years, for Christmas

Australia is inarguably split into two groups of people – those who go to Subway for the sandwiches, and those who go to Subway for the cookies.

In good news for the latter party, the fast food chain has announced that – for the first time in nearly four years – a new biscuit flavour is joining the ranks, just in time for Christmas.

From tomorrow, November 27, the Choc Mint Cookie will land in Subway restaurants across Australia and New Zealand, for a limited time only.

A rich double chocolate cookie with a “refreshing” peppermint flavour and “festive” red and green chocolate drops, the new treat joins existing fan-favourites Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Rainbow, Double Chocolate Chip, Raspberry Cheesecake and White Chip Macadamia Nut.

Subway Director of Marketing for Australia and New Zealand, Rodica Titeica, said in a statement that over the last couple of years, the cookies have gained nearly as much fame and recognition as the chain’s Footlong subs.

Given a whopping 53.6 million are sold each year across both countries – amassing the width of Australia if lined up side-by-side – Ms Titeica said it was high time for a new flavour.

“When people think of Subway, they think Footlongs, and then they think cookies,” she said.

“This year, we’ve sold more than 53.6 million cookies across Australia and New Zealand. On average, that’s two cookies per person, per year.
