The Lady of the Camellias, Bolshoi Ballet Cinema season

The Bolshoi Ballet opened its doors to audiences in cinemas worldwide earlier this month, for the 11th season. It started with Romeo & Juliet and now continues with The Lady of the Camellias.

Part One of the 20/21 season has been announced and will include a recorded live production of everyone’s favourite Christmas classic THE NUTCRACKER.

We were lucky enough to be able to watch Lady of the Camellias recently and were mesmerised by the entire production.

Written by Alexandre Dumas and first published in 1848, Lady of the Camellias tells the story of the brief and tragic love affair of  Marguerite Gautier and Armand Duval.

From the costumes and set design, to the breath taking and exceptional performances of the Bolshoi Ballet, who with the Lady of the Camellias show why they are one of the most revered ballet companies in the world.

The Bolshoi’s version of this timeless story is brought to life by John Neumeier’s choreography which is accompanied by a classic score from Chopin. Dancers Svetlana Zakharova and Edvin Revazov perfectly capture the emotive and passionate love affair of  Marguerite Gautier and Armand Duval. Catching each nuanced emotion they feel and turning in to a breathtaking and exquisite performance that will stay with you for a long time to come.
